Babar Azam steps down as Pakistan captain in all formats

Pakistan batter Babar Azam steps down as Pakistan captain in all formats after their exit from World Cup without reaching the semi final. Pakistan finishes on fifth with just 4 wins out of the 9 games they played.

“Today, I am stepping down as the captain of Pakistan in all formats. It’s a difficult decision but I feel it is a right time for this call. I will continue to represent Pakistan in all three format. I am here to support the new captain and the team with my experience and dedication. I want to express my sincere thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board for entrusting me this significant responsibility,” Babar Azam said.

Babar Azam scored 320 runs from 9 innings at an average of 40.00 with highest score of 74. Pakistan appointed Shaheen Shah Afridi as new T20I captain and Shan Masood as Test captain.

Babar Azam appointed as Pakistan white ball captain in 2019 and Test captain in 2021. In 43 ODIs under his captaincy Pakistan won 26 , losing 16 with one no result. 41 wins , 23 losses and 7 no results in T20I format. From 20 test Pakistan won 10 , losing 6 and drawing 4.
