Morne Morkel resigns as Pakistan bowling coach after their early exit from World Cup without reaching the semi final. The former South African pacer had joined the Pakistan team back in June on a six month contract which was due to expire next month.

Naseem Shah’s injury weakened Pakistan bowling attack since Asia Cup and later he was ruled out of the World Cup due to shoulder injury. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked 18 wickets in the World Cup but he struggled with his fitness in certain games. While Haris Rauf becomes the most expensive bowler in single edition of World Cup.

Pakistan began the World Cup well by winning the first two games but they lost the momentum by losing the next 4 games. They finished fifth wining 4 and losing 5 games. Lack of World class spinner hurt Pakistan in the middle phase of the innings. Shadab Khan struggled with his form and fitness.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be the three match test series against Australia that is scheduled to take place from December 14th. PCB set to announce a replacement for him in due course.
