Najmul Hossain Shanto to lead Bangladesh against New Zealand test series

Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh for the two match test series against New Zealand at home which is scheduled to begin from November 28th. Shanto will now become the 13th test captain for Bangladesh. He replaces regular captain Shakib Al Hasan , who will miss the series due to injury.

Shanto so far played 23 tests with highest score of 163 with an average of 29.84. He scored 4 hundreds and 3 fifties in tests. He hasn’t lead Bangladesh in tests however captained them in 3 ODIs including twice at the 2023 World Cup when Shakib Al Hasan injured.

Hasan Murad , 22 year old left arm spinner , young fast bowler Hasan Mahmud and top order batter Shahadat Hossain Dipu earned their first test call. Meanwhile , West Indies Colly Collymore will replace Allan Donald as Bangladesh pace bowling coach. David Hemp appointed as batting coach for the side.
