
West Indies captain Shai Hope’s masterclass innings guided them to e record run chase against India in the third ODI. Chasing a huge 352 run target, Hope scored an unbeaten 162 runs from 143 balls to lead West Indies to victory. India won the first two matches and sealed the series 2-1 despite West Indies winning the final ODI.

India Innings
Pacer Jayden Seales rocked India early by taking quick wickets of Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli. Gill got out for one while Kohli was clean bowled on the very first ball he faced. Rohit Sharma and Ruturaj Gaikwad revived India with a 137 run third wicket stand from 132 balls. Keemo Paul broke the stand by dismissing Rohit Sharma for a well made 92 runs from 85 balls.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 57 runs from 69 balls before Jayden Seales dismissed him during his comeback spell. K.L.Rahul who got his first chance to bat in the series made full use of it with another valuable knock. He scored his ninth ODI hundred and remained unbeaten on 129 runs from 87 balls to give India a strong total.

Naman Dhir scored 30 runs from 21 balls while Anshul Kamboj added 17 from 9 balls to provide useful late runs. At the end of 50 overs, India finished their innings on 351/7.

Shai Hope was forced to open alongside John Campbell after a late finger injury to Jewel Andrew. The opening pair added 41 runs from 4.1 overs before Mohammed Siraj clean bowled John Campbell for 10 runs. Hope and Jangoo built a strong base for the chase adding 109 runs from 100 balls for the second wicket.
Hope built crucial partnerships with Sherfane Rutherford and Keemo Paul scoring 56 and 65 runs respectively. Rutherford scored 24 from 25 balls while Keemo Paul made 44 from 35 balls.
Shai Hope’s 162* runs from 143 balls guided West Indies to their highest successful run chase in ODI history. During his knock he hit 17 fours and 3 sixes. His excellent batting in the death overs ensured West Indies crossed the 352 run target set by India. Gudakesh Motie remained unbeaten on 19 runs from 14 balls alongside Hope.
