India chase 209 in 15.2 overs as Suryakumar , Ishan dominate

Captain Suryakumar (82) and Ishan Kishan (76) dominated Kiwi bowlers to give India a comfortable win in second T20I. India chased down the 209 run target set by New Zealand in 15.2 overs with seven wickets remaining. With this win India goes 2-0 up in the five match series.

Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match for his blistering 76 off 32 balls. He smashed 11 fours and four sixes in his match winning knock.

New Zealand Innings

Openers Devon Conway and Tim Seifert gave New Zealand a rapid start , scoring 43 runs in just 3.2 overs. Pacer Harshit Rana once again dismissed Devon Conway to give India the first inroad. He scored 19 runs from 9 balls. Varun Chakravarthy removed the other opener, Tim Seifert , for 24 in the very next over.

Rachin Ravindra smashed 44 from 26 balls, attacking Indian bowlers, but India kept chipping away with timely wickets regularly. Several New Zealand batters got starts but failed to convert the innings.Captain Mitchell Santner’s unbeaten 47 off 27 balls at the death helped New Zealand post a competitive 208 for 6.

Spinners Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadhav bowled economical spells for India.

Kuldeep Yadhav (2/35 in 4 overs) , Varun Chakravarthy (1/35 in 4 overs) , Shivam Dube (1/7 in 1 over) , Hardik Pandya (1/25 in 3 overs) and Harshit Rana (1/35 in 3 overs).

India Innings

Got off to the worst possible start, India lost openers Sanju Samson (6) and Abhishek Sharma (0) early. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadhav swung the game in India’s favor with a 122 run partnership from just 49 balls.

Ishan Kishan played a blistering innings, scoring 76 runs from 32 balls, including 11 fours and 1 six. His innings proved the turning point, coming at a crucial stage when India had slumped to 6 for 2.

Suryakumar Yadhav (82* runs from 37 balls) returned to form, scoring his first fifty in his last 23 T20I innings. His back to form is a big boost for India ahead of the World Cup.

Shivam Dube (36 off 18) and Suryakumar Yadhav added an 81 run partnership from 37 balls, guiding India to victory in 15.2 overs.
