The Kiwis created history by clinching their first ever ODI series win in India, sealing a 2-1 victory in Indore. They bounced back from a 1-0 deficit in the three match series. New Zealand set a target of 338 and bowled India out for 296 in 46 overs.

Daryl Mitchell, in the form of his life, earned the Player of the Match award for his knock of 137 runs off 131 balls. He also named Player of the Series award after scoring 352 runs in three matches.

Toss

Shubman Gill won the toss and put New Zealand in to bat.

New Zealand Innings

They got off to the worst possible start, losing both openers in the first two overs for just five runs. Arshdeep Singh dismissed Henry Nicholls for a duck, while Harshit Rana got rid of Devon Conway for five.

Will young and Daryl Mitchell rebuild the New Zealand innings with a 53 run partnership for the third wicket. Jadeja took a sharp catch off Harshit Rana to dismiss Young for 30, breaking the partnership.

Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips put New Zealand in a position of strength with a 219 run stand for the fourth wicket. Mitchell (137) scored his third century in last four innings, while Philips (106) notched his second ODI hundred.

Kiwis innings ended at 337/8 in 50 overs, with captain Bracewell remains unbeaten on 28* off 18 balls.

Arshdeep Singh (3/63 in 10 overs) , Harshit Rana (3/84 in 10 overs) , Mohammed Siraj (1/43 in 10 overs) and Kuldeep Yadhav (1/48 in 6 overs).

India Innings

Chasing 339, India lost Rohit (11) , Gill (23) , Shreyas Iyer (1) and K.L.Rahul (1) in the first 13 overs for just 71 runs. Nitish Kumar Reddy (53) who scored his maiden half century along with Kohli gives momentum to the innings with an 88 run stand. Kristian Clarke brought New Zealand back by dismissing Reddy.

Left arm spinner Lennox then dismissed Ravindra Jadeja for 12, pushing India further back to 178/6. Virat Kohli and Harshit Rana gave India hope with a 99 run partnership in just 69 balls. Zak Foulkes provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Harshit Rana. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes in his knock of 52.

Virat Kohli went on to score his 54th ODI century. India’s dream ended when Kristian Clarke dismissed Virat Kohli in the 46th over. He scored 124 runs from 108 balls including 10 fours and 3 sixes.

Finally, India were bowled out for 296, handing the Kiwis their first ever ODI series win in India.
