Off spinner Ravichandran Ashwin who withdraws from third test after day 2 due to family emergency will rejoin the squad in Rajkot for last 2 days. His return will boost India’s chances to win the test and to take 2-1 lead in the series.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is pleased to announce the return of R Ashwin to the squad after a brief absence due to a family emergency. Both Ashwin and the team management are pleased to confirm that he will be back in action on Day 4 and will continue to contribute towards team cause in the ongoing test match. Ashwin and his family kindly request privacy as they navigate through these challenging times.” BCCI said in a statement.

Ashwin achieved the milestone of picking 500 test wickets on Day 2 of the ongoing test before he was forced to leave Chennai for personal reasons. He is now expected to rejoin the team by lunch on Day 4.
