Buttler and Brook star in England’s 4-0 series whitewash against India

England beat India by 56 runs and completed a 4-0 T20I series whitewash. Batting first, England set India a huge 258 run target and then restricted them to 201/8. Jos Buttler won Player of the Match after scoring 131 runs from 64 balls with an outstanding batting performance.

Toss

The match started 30 minutes late because team India got stuck in traffic while travelling to the stadium. After winning the toss team India chose to field first.

England Innings

Pacer Prasidh Krishna gave India an early breakthrough by dismissing Phil Salt for 6 runs from 9 balls. Captain Harry Brook joined Jos Buttler and added a record second wicket partnership to help England post a huge total.

Buttler and Brook added 233 runs from 103 balls helping England set India a target of 258 runs. Buttler played his best T20I Innings scoring 131 runs from 64 balls before Dube dismissed him in the 19th over. Captain Harry Brook continued his fine form with an unbeaten 95 runs from 45 balls.

Sanju Samson replaced Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the playing XI and opened the batting with Abhishek Sharma. Chasing 258 runs India lost the key wicket of Abhishek Sharma as Jofra Archer dismissed him for 3 runs.

Giving India a quick start, Sanju Samson scored 27 runs from 14 balls before Sam Curran dismissed him in the final powerplay over. At the end of the powerplay India were 65 for 2.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan added 55 runs from 30 balls for the third wicket keeping India’s chase alive. Left arm spinner Dawson gave England a key breakthrough dismissing Shreyas Iyer for 28 runs from 16 balls.

Ishan Kishan scored 56 from 35 balls and Tilak Varma made 53 from 25 but India fell well short of target. Curran, Dawson and Rashid bowled well and slowed India’s scoring rate with disciplined spells.
