Kolkata Knight Riders outclass Mumbai Indians to stay in Playoff contention

In a must win game, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Mumbai Indians by four wickets to keep playoff hopes alive. KKR restricted Mumbai Indians to 147/8 and chased the target in 19th over with four wickets remaining. Manish Pandey claimed Player of the Match award after scoring 45 runs from 33 balls.

Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers dominated the powerplay, claiming four wickets while conceding only 46 runs. Ryan Rickelton (6) , Naman Dhir (0) , Rohit Sharma (15) and Suryakumar Yadhav (15) were the batters dismissed during Mumbai’s disastrous powerplay. Excellent bowling from Green and Dubey, alongside brilliant fielding gave KKR the upper hand.

On a difficult batting surface, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma added 43 runs from 49 balls rebuilding Mumbai innings. Tilak Varma scored 20 runs from 32 balls before falling to Karthik Tyagi. Sunil Narine later dismissed Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya, who scored 26 runs from 27 balls.

Corbin Bosch scored an unbeaten 32 off 18 balls, dragging Mumbai Indians to 147/8 at the end. Will Jacks scored 14 off 7, while Deepak Chahar added 10 from 7.

Chasing 148, Kolkata lost Finn Allen for eight in the opening over to Deepak Chahar. Ajinkya Rahane and Manish Pandey added 38 runs before Corbin Bosch dismissed Rahane for 21 in the powerplay. Corbin Bosch then dismissed Cameron Green for four, reducing KKR to 54/3 during the chase.

Manish Pandey and Rovman Powell added 64 runs from 48 balls, putting KKR in a winning position. Jasprit Bumrah provided Mumbai a breakthrough by dismissing Manish Pandey, who scored crucial 45 runs from 33 balls. In the very next over, Kolkata lost Rovman Powell who scored 40 from 30 balls to Ghazanfar.

Tejasvi Dahiya (11 off 12) , Rinku Singh (9* off 5) and Ankul Roy (4* off 4) at the end helps KKR cross the line in 18.5 overs. With this win, KKR kept their playoff hopes alive.
