Gujarat Titans crushed Rajasthan Royals by 77 runs and climbed to second spot in the points table. Batting first, Gujarat Titans had posted 230 before bowling out Rajasthan Royals for 152 within 16.3 overs. Rashid Khan earned Player of the Match award after claiming 4 for 33 from four.

Regular captain Riyan Parag missed out through hamstring injury as Yashasvi Jaiswal led Rajasthan Royals for the first time. After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals sent Gujarat Titans in to bat.

Openers provided Gujarat Titans strong foundation through 118 run partnership in 10.5 overs. Both openers struck half centuries as Sai Sudharsan departed first to Yash Raj Punia after scoring 55 from 36 balls. Jos Buttler, arriving after the first wicket, departed cheaply after scoring 13 runs to Ravindra Jadeja.

Captain Shubman Gill played the innings which laid perfect foundation for Gujarat Titan’s massive first innings total. He smashed 84 runs from 44 balls including nine fours and three sixes. Brijesh Sharma removed Shubman Gill in the seventeenth over after Gujarat Titans total had reached 185.

Washington Sundar 37* from 20 balls while Rahul Tewatia’s 14* from 4 balls lifted Gujarat Titans to 229 for four.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again delivered rapid start during chase, smashing 36 runs from 16 balls. After his aggressive cameo Mohammed Siraj removed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi with bouncer. In the very next over, Kagiso Rabada dismissed stand in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal for just three runs.

Gujarat Titans claimed wickets regularly and kept Rajasthan Royals batters under constant pressure throughout the entire innings. Rajasthan were eventually bowled out for 152 within 16.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja emerged Rajasthan Royals top scorer after making 38 runs from 25 balls.

With this win, Gujarat Titans climbed to second spot while Rajasthan Royals dropped to fifth place.
