Clinical Punjab Kings beat Chennai Super Kings by 7 wickets in M.A.Chidambaram Stadium , Chennai. After restricting CSK to 162/7 in 20 overs they chased it down in 17.5 overs with 7 wickets remaining.

Ajinkya Rahane (29 runs from 24 balls) and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (62 runs from 48 balls) given CSK a decent start by scoring 64 runs for the opening wicket. Spinner Harpreet Brar dismissed opener Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube for a golden duck.

Rahul Chahar then trapped Ravindra Jadeja (2 runs from 4 balls) in front of the stumps in 10th over to push CSK to 70/3. Ruturaj Gaikwad’s half century , Sameer Rizwi (21 runs from 23 balls) , Moeen Ali (15 runs from 9 balls) and Dhoni (14 runs from 11 balls) innings took them to 162/7 in 20 overs.

M.S.Dhoni dismissed for the first time in eight innings so far in this edition IPL. His unbeaten streak ended in a runout on the final delivery of the innings.

Punjab spinners Rahul Chahar (2/16 in 4 overs) and Harpreet Brar (2/17 in 4 overs) spell helped them to restrict CSK. Kagiso Rabada (1/23 in 4 overs) and Arshdeep Singh (1/52 in 4 overs) are the other wicket takers for Punjab.

CSK who are already without their strike bowler Matheesha Pathirana who is suffering from a niggle and pacer Tushar Deshpande as well out with illness faced another blow as pacer Deepak Chahar limped off the field after bowling just two balls in the first over.

Richard Gleeson given CSK the first breakthrough by dismissing Prabhsimran Singh (13 runs from 10 balls) in the first ball of the 4th over. Jonny Bairstow (46 runs from 30 balls) and Rilee Rossouw (43 runs from 23 balls) added 64 runs from 37 balls for the second wicket.

Shivam Dube who didn’t bowled for CSK since 2022 and his last wicket was in 2020 dismissed Jonny Bairstow in the second ball of his spell. Shardul Thakur then clean bowled Rilee Rossouw in the last ball of the 12th over to push Punjab Kings to 113/3.

Sam Curran (26* runs from 20 balls) and Shashank Singh (25* runs from 26 balls) unbroken partnership of 50 runs from 37 balls helped them to cross the line in 17.5 overs.

Shivam Dube (1/14 in 1 over) , Richard Gleeson (1/30 in 3.5 overs) and Shardul Thakur (1/48 in 3.4 overs) are the wicket takers for Chennai Super Kings.
