Maxwell’s extraordinary double ton put Australia into the semi final

Glenn Maxwell’s (201* runs from 128 balls) extraordinary innings helped Australia to recover from 91/7 to win the match and qualify for the semis. Chasing 292 run target Australia chased it down in 46.5 overs with 3 wickets remaining.

Ibrahim Zadran (129* runs from 143 balls) who scored first ODI century for Afghanistan in World Cups helped them to reach 291/5 in 50 overs. Rashid Khan (35* runs from 18 balls) played a cameo in the end for his side.

Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz (21 runs from 25 balls) , Rahmat Shah (30 runs from 44 balls) , captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (26 runs from 43 balls) and Azmatullah Omarzai (22 runs from 18 balls) are the other main scorer for Afghanistan.

Josh Hazlewood (2/39 in 9 overs) was the most successful bowler for Australia in the match. Glenn Maxwell (1/55 in 10 overs) , Adam Zampa (1/58 in 10 overs) and Mitchell Starc (1/70 in 9 overs) are the other wicket takers for Australia.

Naveen ul Haq given Afghanistan perfect start with the ball by dismissing dangerous Travis Head for a duck. He then trapped Mitchell Marsh (24 runs from 11 balls) in front of the stumps in the 4th ball of the 6th over.

Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed David Warner (18 runs from 29 balls) and Josh Inglis (0 run from 1 ball) in two consecutive deliveries in 9th over pushed Australia to 49/4. Rahmat Shah’s direct hit ended Marnus Labuschagne innings for 14.

Rashid Khan then dismissed Marcus Stoinis (6 runs from 7 balls) and Mitchell Starc (3 run from 7 balls) to push Australia to 91/7 in 18.3 overs.

Glenn Maxwell (201* runs from 128 balls) and captain Pat Cummins (12* runs from 68 balls) unbroken partnership of 202 runs from 170 balls given Australia unbelievable win.

Maxwell played on of the greatest innings in ODI history. His innings includes 21 fours and 10 sixes. He was injured during the match and was unable to run in the final stages but his power hitting ability helps Australia to finish the game in 46.5.

Maxwell was lucky that he was dropped on 24 and 33. Mujeeb ur Rahman dropped a simple opportunity when he was batting on 33 which cost Afghanistan the match.

Rashid Khan (2/44 in 10 overs) , Naveen-ul-Haq (2/47 in 9 overs) and Azmatullah Omarzai (2/52 in 7 overs) are the wicket takers for Afghanistan.
