India beat Srilanka by 302 runs and enter into the semi final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Batted first India set Srilanka 358 run target and bowled them out for 55 in 19.4 overs. Mohammad Shami named Player of the match for his excellent spell of 5/18 in 5 overs.

Shubman Gill (92 runs from 92 balls) and Virat Kohli (88 runs from 94 balls) partnership of 189 runs from 179 balls given India the start needed after the loss of Rohit Sharma (4 runs from 2 balls) in the second ball of the match.
Both Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli was lucky that Charith Asalanka dropped Shubman Gill on 9 and Dushmantha Chameera dropped Virat Kohli when he was batting on 10.

Shreyas Iyer innings of 82 runs from 56 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes helped India to increase the scoring rate in the final overs. Ravindra Jadeja (35 runs from 24 balls) and K.L.Rahul (21 runs from 19 balls) also played a useful innings to help India reach 357/8.
Dilshan Madushanka took five wickets for Srilanka but given 80 runs in his 10 over spell. Dushmantha Chameera (1/71 in 10 over) is the other wicket taker for Srilanka.
Mohammad Shami (5/18 in 5 overs) and Mohammad Siraj (3/16 in 7 overs) spell demolished the Srilankan batting line up. They lost their top 6 batters for just 14 runs on the board in 9.4 overs.

Mohammad Shami now become the leading wicket taker for India in World cups with 45 wickets surpassing Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath.
Jasprit Bumrah (1/8 in 5 Overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/4 in 0.4 overs) are the other wicket takers for India. Number 10 batter Kasun Rajitha(14 runs from 17 balls) was the top scorer for Srilanka.
