Australia beat New Zealand by 5 runs in high scoring thriller at Dharmsala. Put in to bat Australia set New Zealand 389 run target. New Zealand were in the game till the last ball but fell short by 5 runs. Travis Head named Player of the match for his knock of 109 runs from 67 balls.

David Warner (81 runs from 65 balls) and Travis Head (109 runs from 67 ball) who made a come back into the side after injury break given Australia a fantastic start by scoring 175 runs in 19.1 overs. Part time spinner Glenn Philips broke the opening stand by dismissing David Warner.
Travis Head who scored his century on ODI World Cup debut also fell to Glenn Philips in 24th over when the Australian score reached 200. New Zealand were able to control the flow of runs in the middle phase and also picked the wickets of Mitchell Marsh (36 runs from 51 balls) , Steven Smith (18 runs from 17 balls) and Marnus Labuschagne (18 runs from 26 balls).

Glenn Maxwell (41 runs from 24 balls) , Josh Inglis (38 runs from 28 balls) and Pat Cummins (37 runs from 14 balls) innings helped Australia to reach 388. Pat Cummins scored 27 runs in the 48th over bowled by James Neesham.
Glenn Philips (3/37 in 10 overs) was the pick of the bowlers among New Zealand. Trent Boult (3/77 in 10 overs) who picked all his 3 wickets in the 49th over of the innings bu giving just 1 run. Mitchell Santner (2/80 in 10 overs) , James Neesham (1/32 in 2 overs) and Matt Henry (1/67 in 6.2 overs) are the wicket takers for kiwis.
Devon Conway (28 runs from 17 balls) and Will Young (32 runs from 37 balls) given New Zealand a decent start by scoring 61 runs in 7.1 overs. Josh Hazlewood dismissed both the openers in quick succession. Mitchell Starc took a brillant catch to dismiss Devon Conway.

Rachin Ravindra (116 runs from 89 balls) who scored his second World Cup century and Daryl Mitchell (54 runs from 51 balls) scored 96 runs from 86 balls for the third wicket put New Zeland in the track before Adam Zampa dismissed Daryl Mitchell.
Australia picked wickets at regular intervals but New Zealand kept the run rate under the control. James Neesham (58 runs from 39 balls) played an outstanding innings in the end but it went in vain as New Zealand fell short by 5 runs.

Mitchell Starc who bowled the final over defending 19 bowled well except the 5 wides he conceded in the second ball. Strac given 89 runs in his 9 over spell.
Adam Zampa (3/74 in 10 overs) , Patt Cummins (2/66 in 10 overs) , Josh Hazlewood (2/70 in 9 overs) and Glenn Maxwell (1/62 in 10 overs) are the wicket takers for Australia.
