Srilanka beat England by 8 wickets and keeps their semi final spot alive in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. They bowled out England for just 156 in 33.2 overs and chased it down in 25.4 overs with 8 wickets remaining. Lahiru Kumara named Player of the match for his excellent spell of 3/35 in 7 overs.
England lost wickets at regular intervals after their 45 run opening stand between Jonny Bairstow (30 runs from 31 balls) and Dawid Malan (28 runs from 25 balls). Ben Stokes (43 runs from 73 balls) top scorer for England.

Lahiru Kumara (3/35 in 7 overs) shines with the ball for Srilanka by picking Ben Stokes , Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone. Angelo Mathews who made a come back in to the side picked 2 wickets by giving just 14 runs in his 5 over spell.
Kasun Rajitha (2/36 in 7 overs) and Maheesh Theekshana (1/21 in 8.2 overs) are the other wicket takers for Srilanka. Srilankan bowlers put England batters under pressure by picking wickets at regular intervals and bowled them out for 156.
David Willey given England good start defending 156 by dismissing Kusal Perera (4 runs from 5 balls) and captain Kusal Mendis (11 runs from 12 balls) cheaply inside 5.2 overs for just 23 runs.
