Afghanistan beat current World Champions England by 69 runs in Delhi. After setting England 285 run target Afghanistan bowled them out for 215 in 40.3 overs to register their first win World cup after 2015. Mujeeb ur Rahman named Player of the Match for his 28 runs from 16 balls and 3/51 in his 10 overs.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (80 runs from 57 balls) and Ibrahim Zadran (28 runs from 48 balls) given Afghanistan a great start by scoring 114 run opening stand in 16.4 overs. Adil Rashid brought England back by dismissing Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmat Shah(3 runs of 8 balls).
Gurbaz innings ended in run out after Hashmatullah Shahidi runs for non-existent single of the first ball he faced. England then picked wickets at regular intervals and put Afghanistan under pressure.

Ikram Alikhil (58 runs from 66 balls) , Rashid Khan (23 runs from 22 balls) and Mujeen ur Rahman’s (28 runs from 16 balls) cameo helped them to reach 284 in the end.
Adil Rashid (3/42 in 10 overs) , Mark Wood (2/50 in 9 overs) , Joe Root (1/19 in 4 overs) , Liam Livingstone (1/33 in 10 overs) and Reece Topley (1/52 in 8.5 overs) are the wicket takers for England.
Left arm seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi given Afghanistan a good start by dismissing Jonny Bairstow(2 runs from 4 balls) in the first ball of the second over. Mujeeb ur Rahman gives England second blow by clean bowled Joe Root (11 runs from 17 balls).

Afghanistan bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals and didn’t allowed England to be in the chase. Spinners Rashid Khan (3/37 in 9.3 overs) and Mujeeb ur Rahman (3/51 in 10 overs) done most of the damage for England.
Harry Brook (66 runs from 61 balls) is the top scorer for England. Dawid Malan is the second best with 32 runs with 39 balls.

Mohammad Nabi (2/16 in 6 overs) , Naveen-ul-Haq (1/44 in 6 overs) and Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/50 in 7 overs) are the other wicket takers for Afghanistan.
