The BCCI announced India’s Test squad for the two match New Zealand series. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah returns to the squad along with Anshul Kamboj and Akash Deep. Allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy also return to the set up. Wicket keeper batter Rishabh Pant is also included in the squad, but his selection depends on passing the fitness test.
Jasprit Bumrah has not played a single Test match in 2026 so far. His last appearance in the red ball format came in November 2025 against South Africa. He was later named in India’s Test squad for the Srilanka tour but withdrew due to an injury.
His last appearance for India came in the 2026 Asian Games T20I final against Pakistan, where India won the gold medal.

Pant suffered the injury while batting in the first innings for Rest of India during the recent Irani cup match. He was captaining Rest of India (ROI) and suffered a left side strain. He must pass the fitness test to play, while India have Dhruv Jurel as their second wicketkeeper option.
Sai Sudharsan returns to the squad after missing the Srilanka series due to a toe injury. Devdutt Padikkal, who replaced him during that tour, scored two centuries and made a strong impression with his batting. As usual, Shubman Gill will lead the side with K.L.Rahul serving as his deputy.
Aksah Deep suffered a lower back injury before the IPL, which kept him out of action for months. He recently played in the Irani Cup and proved his fitness. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are also available in the pace attack.
Spin bowling all-rounder Manav Suthar has not found a place in the squad. All-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar along with Kuldeep Yadhav will lead India’s spin attack.
The first Test starts in Wellington on November 19, while the second Test will be played in Christchurch from November 27.
