India beat Bangladesh by five wickets to perpetuate their campaign and remain firmly in contention for a coveted semifinal berth. Restricted Bangladesh to 136/8 before emphatically overhauling the target in 16.5 overs with five wickets remaining. Shafali Verma garnered the Player of the Match accolade after her scintillating 53 off 34 balls.

Toss

After winning the toss, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana elected to bat first seeking to establish a formidable and competitive total.

Bangladesh Innings

Returning pacer Renuka Singh provided India an early breakthrough, dismissing Dilara Akter in her opening over after rejoining the playing XI. Juairiya Ferdous and Sobhana Mostary resurrected Bangladesh’s innings through a resilient 51 run partnership for the second wicket. Indian fielders dropped four catches during their partnership, allowing Bangladesh to rebuild steadily and strengthen their position in the innings.

Juairiya Ferdous made 33 off 31 balls and Sobhana Mostary scored 22 off 26 before falling to Nandani Sharma and Radha Yadav. Despite poor fielding, India bowled with discipline and kept Bangladesh under constant pressure throughout.

At the end of 20 overs, India restricted Bangladesh to 136/8. Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana scored 32 runs from 27 balls.

Wicket Takers India

Radha Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking three wickets for 28 runs in her four wickets. Shree Charani (2/21 in 4 overs) , Renuka Singh (1/21 in 3 overs) and Nandani Sharma (1/32 in 3 overs).

India Innings

Shafali Verma gave India a brisk start despite losing Smriti Mandhana for eight runs to Marufa Akter. The opening pair added 31 runs in first three overs. Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia added 45 runs for the second wicket keeping India’s chase firmly on track.

Promoted to number 4, Richa Ghosh scored 10 from 12 balls before Rabeya Khan trapped her leg before wicket. Jemimah Rodrigues scored 26 runs from 15 balls before getting out, leaving India needing just nine more runs to win. Harmanpreet Kaur (13* off 14) and Deepti Sharma (5* off 2) guided India home comfortably, sealing victory in 16.5 overs.
