Babar Azam (151 runs from 131 balls) , Iftikhar Ahmed (109* runs from 71 balls) and bowlers gives Pakistan 238 run huge win over Nepal in the opening match of Asia Cup 2023. Elected to bat first Pakistan set Nepal 343 run target and bowled them out for 104 in 23.4 overs.

Pakistan lost their openers Fakhar Saman (14 runs from 20 balls) and Imam-ul-Haq (5 runs from 14 balls) for just 25 runs in 6.1 overs. Fakhar Zaman got out to Karan K.C and Imam-ul-Haq runs himself out.

Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan (44 runs from 50 balls) scored 86 runs from 106 balls for the third wicket and took Pakistan to 111 in 23.4 overs from 25/2 before Dipendra Singh’s direct throw ended Rizwan’s innings.

Nepal put Pakistan in a spot of bother when Lamichhane dismissed Agha Salman for 5 and pushed them to 124/4 in 27.5 overs. Babar Azam (151 runs from 131 balls) who scored in 19th century and Iftikhar Ahmed (109* runs from 71 balls) who scored his maiden ODI hundred rescued Pakistan and helps them to finish on 342/6.

Rajbanshi (0/48 runs from 10 overs) is the most economical bowler for Nepal. Sompal Kami picket two wickets but went for 85 runs in his quota of 10 overs. Karan K.C (1/54 from 9 overs) and Lamichhane (1/69 in 10 overs) are the other wicket takers for Nepal.

Shaheen Afridi dismissed Kushal Bhurtel (8 runs from 4 balls) , Nepal captain Rohit Paudel (0 run from 1 ball) in the last two balls of the first over and Naseem Shah get rid of Aasif Sheikh (5 runs from 5 balls) in the second over to push Nepal to 14/3 in 1.4 overs.

Sompal Kami (28 runs from 46 balls) and Aarif Sheikh (26 runs from 38 balls) put together a promising partnership of 59 runs from 78 balls. Haris Rauf dismissed both batters in quick succession to give Pakistan firm control of the match.

Nepal lost last 7 wickets for just 31 runs and bowled out for 104 runs in 23.4 overs. Shadab Khan (4/27 in 6.4 overs) is the most successful bowler for Pakistan in the match. Haris Rauf (2/16 in 5 overs) , Shaheen Afridi (2/27 in 5 overs) , Mohammed Nawaz (1/13 in 2 overs) and Naseem Shah (1/17 in 5 overs) are the wicket takers for Pakistan.
