K.L.Rahul unavailable for the first two games of Asia Cup

India’s wicket keeper batter K.L.Rahul will not be available for the first two games of Asia Cup- 2023 against Pakistan and Nepal. India’s head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed it on Tuesday (August 29). He got injured during the IPL 2023.

India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on September 2 (Saturday) before facing Nepal on September 4 (Monday). Both matches will be played in Pallekele. Ishan Kishan is in the team as second choice wicket keeper with Sanju Samson as back up player.

“He has had a really good week with us, really trained well, he is progressing well on the route we want to take but he will be unavailable for the Kandy leg of the trip,” Dravid told. “The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling. We will reassess on the 4th and then take it from there. But the signs are looking good and he is progressing really well.”

He had fully recovered from thigh injury he sustained during IPL 2023. He had a minor niggle which made him unavailable for the first two games of Asia Cup.
