Indian pacer and captain for the series Jasprit Bumrah who made a comeback into the side after long injury break picked two wickets in the first over of the match. He dismissed Balbirnie (4 runs from 2 balls) and Tucker (0 run from 3 balls).

Prasidh Krishna who also made a comeback after injury break given India the third break through by dismissing Harry Tector for 9. Indian bowlers picked wickets quickly to push them to 59/6 in 10.3 overs.

B McGarthy (51* runs from 33 balls) who put together 57 runs from 44 balls with C Campher (39 runs from 33 balls) and scored 23 runs in 14 balls with Craig Young (1* run from 4 balls) helps them to reach 139/7 in 20 overs.
