England bowled Australia out for 295 in the first innings and kept them in the game. Australia taken a lead of 12 runs at stumps on Day 2.

England bowlers picked wickets at regular intervals and kept Australia in check. Resuming overnight score of 61/1 Australia first lost Marnus Labuschagne who scored just 9 runs from 82 balls. Joe Root took a brilliant catch off Mark Wood to dismiss him.

Stuart Board trapped Aussie opener Usman Khawaja (47 runs from 157 balls) infront of the stumps after lunch. Australia then lost Travis Head (4 runs from 5 balls) , Mitchell Marsh (16 runs from 28 balls) , Alex Carrey (10 runs from 23 balls) and Mitchell Starc (7 runs of 18 balls) cheaply.

Steven Smith (71 runs from 123 balls) was the top scorer for Australia. Steve Smith survive a controversial run out when he was batting on 41 when England wicket keeper Jonny Bairstow managed to take bails with the ball still in his hands.

Pat Cummins (36 runs from 86 balls) and Todd Murphy (34 runs from 39 balls) who came to bat at No.10 put together 49 runs for the ninth wicket helps them to take 12 runs first innings lead.

Chris Woakes trapped Todd Murphy infront off the stumps and Joe Root dismissed Australian captain Pat Cummins to finish the innings on 295.

Chris Woakes (3/61 in 25 overs) , Joe Root (2/20 in 7.1 overs) , Stuart Board (2/49 in 20 overs) , Mark Wood (2/62 in 22 overs) and James Anderson (1/67 in 26 overs) are the wicket takers for England.
