West Indies 229/5 , trail by 209 runs at end of day 3

West Indies were 229/5 at the end of day 3 of the second test. They still trail by 209 runs. Alick Athanaze (37* runs from 111 balls) and Jason Holder (11* runs from 39 balls) were at the crease.

Kraigg Brathwaite (75 runs from 235 balls) and Kirk Mckenzie (32 runs from 57 balls) started well for them by adding 31 more runs to their overnight score of 86/1. Debutant Mukesh Kumar took his first international wicket and broke the partnership by dismissing Krik Mckenzie for 32.

Only 10.4 overs bowled in the first session due to rain interruption.

R Ashwin clean bowled West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite for 75 , Ajinkya Rahane’s brilliance in the field dismissed J Blackwood for 20 and Mohammed Siraj rattled the stumps of Joshua Da Silva for 10.

Alick Athanaze and Jason Holder so far added 21 runs for the sixth wicket. They will resume Day 4 for Windies.
