West Indies 86/1 at stumps after India scores 438 in first innings

West indies were 86/1 in reply to India’s 438 in first innings of the second test. West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite (37* runs from 128 balls) and Kirk Mckenzie (14* runs from 25 balls) were at the end of day’s play. They lost Tagenarine Chanderpaul for 33.

Virat Kohli (121 runs from 206 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (61 runs from 152 balls) resumes the Indian innings strongly on Day 2. They put 159 runs for the fifth wicket before Alzari Joseph’s direct throw ended Kohli’s innings.

Virat Kohli scores his 76th international century on his 500th match for India. This is his 29th test century in 111 matches.

Ravichandran Ashwin (56 runs from 78 balls) and Ishan Kishan (25 runs from 37 balls) helps India reach 438. Ashwin continued his good form with the bat also against West Indies.

K Roach (3/104 in 22 overs) and J Warrican (3/89 in 39 overs) picked three wickets each. J Holder (2/57 in 21 overs) and S Gabriel (1/74 in 18 overs) are the other wicket takers for West Indies.

West Indies openers given slow strong reply by scoring 71 runs for the first wicket. R Jadeja broke the opening partnership by dismissing Tagenarine Chanderpaul. They were 86/1 at end of second day play.
