India 280 runs and Australia 7 wickets away from WTC Title

World Test Championship final 2023 between India and Australia set for an interesting finish on Day 5. Chasing 444 run target in the fourth innings India were 164/3 at the end of Day 4. India need 280 more runs and Australia 7 wickets away from WTC Title.

Resuming overnight score of 123/4 Australia scored 147 runs more for the loss of 4 wickets and declared on 270/8. Umesh Yadhav gives India early breakthrough on Day 4 by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne(41 runs from 126 balls). Cameroon Green scored 25 runs from 95 balls before R Jadeja clean bowled him.

Alex Carrey (66* runs from 105 balls) and Mitchell Starc (41 runs from 57 balls) partnership of 93 runs for the seventh wicket put Australia in commanding position.

R Jadeja (3/58 in 23 overs) , Mohammed Shami (2/39 in 16.3 overs) , Umesh Yadhav (2/54 in 17 overs) and Mohammed Siraj (1/80 in 20 overs) are the wicket takers for India.

Rohit Sharma (43 runs from 60 balls) and Shubman (18 runs from 19 balls) gives India a good start by scoring 41 runs for the opening wicket. Cameroon Green took a controversial catch to dismiss S Gill in the last over before tea.

Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara (27 runs from 47 balls) scored 51 runs for the second wicket at decent rate before Australia dismissed both in quick succession to push India back.

Virat Kohli (44* runs from 60 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (20* runs from 59 balls) put together unbroken 71 runs for the fourth wicket and kept Indian hopes alive. Both need to play a big role on Day 5 if India need to lift WTC title.

Nathan Lyon (1/32 from 11 overs) , Scott Boland (1/38 from 11 overs) and Pat Cummins (1/42 from 9 overs) are the wicket takers for Australia so far.
