Rajastan Royals overcomes Dhoni-Jadeja scare to clinch 3 run win over CSK

Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 3 runs in another last ball thriller in IPL and moves to the top of the table. Rajasthan Royals scored 175/8 after put into bat by M.S.Dhoni who become first player to captain 200 matches in IPL. In reply Chennai Super Kings fell short by 3 runs in the chase.

Jos Buttler once again played a brillant knock by scoring 52 runs from just 36 balls at the top along with Devdutt Padikkal who scored 38 runs from 26 balls. Both put together 77 runs from 41 balls for the second wicket after lossing Y Jaiswal early for 10(8).

R Jadeja’s double wicket over by dismissing Devdutt Pdikkal and captain Sanju Samson for a duck helped them to push RR back. R Ashwin who was promoted in the batting line order done his job by scoring 30 runs from 22 balls including 1 fours and 2 sixes.

S Hetmyer innings of 30 runs from 18 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes helps them to finish on 175/8.

R Jadeja (2/21) once again shines with the ball for his team. Tushar Deshpande (2/37) , Akash Singh (2/40) and Moeen Ali (1/21) are the wicket takers for CSK.

CSK lost their inform batter Ruturaj Gaikwad 8(10) early in the chase. Devon Conway 50(38) and A Rahane 31(19) put together 68 runs from 43 balls for the second wicket. CSK lost quick wickets after Ashwin broke the second wicket partnership by trapping A Rahane infront of the stumps.

From 78/2 in 9.3 overs CSK went down to 113/6 in 15 overs. They lost S Dube 8(9) , M Ali 7(10) , A Rayudu 1(2) and Devon Conway 50(38) during the phase.

M.S.Dhoni and R Jadeja were at the crease when CSK needed 63 runs from last 5 overs. They were able to score only 9 runs in 16th and 17th overs but scored 14 and 19 runs in 18th and 19th overs and made the equation 21 runs in final over.

Sandeep Sharma who bowled the final over started badly by bowling two consecutive wides. He came back strong by bowling a beautiful yorker in next ball but M.S.Dhoni hit 2 back to back sixes in 2nd and 3rd ball and made it 7 from 3 balls.

Sandeep Sharma who changed the ankle and decided to bowl around the wicket to Dhoni worked well for him by conceding just singles in last 3 balls. He executed a beautiful yorker to Dhoni in last ball when CSK needed 5 more to win. Dhoni was able to score only a single and CSK lost the match by 3 runs.
