Joe Root (142*) and Jonny Bairstow (114*) centuries helps England to chase down 378 in the 4th innings of the 5th test and square the series 2-2. This was England’s highest successful chase in test matches.

Joe Root and Bairstow added 269 runs in the unbroken 4th wicket partnership. they came to bat together when England lost 3 wickets after the century opening wicket partnership.

Needed 119 more runs to win on the final day England done it in the first session itself without loosing a wicket on day 5. Root hits his 28th century in tests and Bairstow his 12. Bairstow’s continued his red hot form by hitting his 4th century in last five innings.

India dominated most of the sessions in this test but the poor batting on day 4 and England’s brand new approach took the test away from India. England turns the table after conceding first innings lead of 132 runs.
