Australia won the 5th ODI and Srilanka takes the series 3-2

Australia beat Srilanka by 4 wickets in the final ODI and lose the series 3-2. The series win was Srilanka’s first win against Australian in 30 years. After losing the first match of the series Srilanka won three matches in a row and clinch the series. Kusal Mendis named Player of the series.

Batted first in the final ODI Srilanka bowled out for 160 in 43.1 overs. Chamika Karunaratne first ODI half century 75 runs off 75 balls helps Srilanka to reach 160. One stage they were 85/8. C Karunaratne added 58 runs with debutant Promod Madhusan 15(52) for the 9th wicket. Kusal Mendis scores 26 runs before been out hit wicket off Glenn Maxwell. For Australia Joz Hazlewood (2/22) , Pat Cummins (2/22) and Mathew Kuhnemann (2/26) took two wickets each. Cameron Green (1/13) and Glenn Maxwell (1/38) took one wicket each.

Chasing the target Australia lost wickets at regular intervals. They were 121/6 before Alex Carey 45*(65) and C Green 25*(26) unbroken partnership of 43 runs helped them to cross the line. Marnus Labuschagne 31 runs partnership with M Marsh and 51 runs with Alex Carrey also helped in the chase. Srilankan spinners Maheesh Theekshana (2/26) and Dunith Wellalage (3/42) bowled well for Srilanka.
